You're receiving this message because you installed Windows Live Sync (previously known as FolderShare) for Windows or Mac. On March 31, 2011, Windows Live Sync will stop working. After March 31, this program will no longer sync your files between your computers and you won't be able to access your files remotely from sync.live.com. Please read below for actions we recommend you take.
With the new release of Windows Live services, we've made a series of changes and improvements across the products. We realize they will have an impact on you and we want to make that as easy as possible for you. We thank you for your continued support of Windows Live.
Why is this happening?
To deliver a better product for all our customers, we combined several services into a new product called Windows Live Mesh. Windows Live Mesh offers similar features to Windows Live Sync, but with several performance and reliability improvements. Learn more.
What you can do moving forward
If you enjoyed the functionality of Windows Live Sync or FolderShare, you can choose to install the new Windows Live Mesh. First uninstall Windows Live Sync, and then go to http://explore.live.com/windows-live-mesh to get the latest version of Windows Live Mesh. Before you do this, note the folders that you're syncing on each computer and if they're shared with anyone. After you download Windows Live Mesh, you can set up these folders to sync again.

Q: Why is this happening?
A: For the last couple of years, Microsoft has offered two similar services for syncing your files: Windows Live Sync, and another service, called Live Mesh, which allowed you to sync files to an online storage space for access anywhere. To deliver a better product for all our customers, we decided to combine these sets of features into a new product called Windows Live Mesh.
Q: What is Windows Live Mesh?
A: Windows Live Mesh offers some features that are similar to those in Windows Live Sync and some new features. With Windows Live Mesh, you can:
Sync folders between computers (PC or Mac).
Sync folders to a new online storage space.
Sync your program settings for Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office.
Connect to your PCs remotely to access their files and run programs on them.

Q: How can I upgrade to Windows Live Mesh?
A: If you want to upgrade to Windows Live Mesh, you'll need to install it on all your computers. You can't sync a folder between computers if one computer has Windows Live Sync installed and the other has Windows Live Mesh. Also, your Windows Live Sync folder settings don't automatically transfer over when you upgrade. Before you upgrade, note the folders that you're syncing on each computer and if they're shared with anyone. After you upgrade, you can set up these folders to sync again.
Note: Windows Live Mesh is available only for Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, and Mac OS X version 10.5 or later.
Q: What can I expect between now and the date the beta service shuts down?
A: Windows Live Sync will continue to run until March 31, 2011. However, it is no longer accepting new customers. On March 31, 2011, you will no longer be able to sign in to Windows Live Sync on your PC, Mac, or on the web.
