30+ Gbps Attack Anyone?
Hello,
Usually we try to keep this information confidential for security purposes, but I no longer find it viable to keep this confidential.
Recently we have been receiving over 30Gbps DDOS attack from botnets in China (Mostly China Telecom). This attack although being limited with it's impact to our network is wrecking havoc on our carriers, and causing some major packet loss to China.
The botnet is too large to get an accurate number of bots in it but our estimate based on the DDoS size it's over 100K bots with an impact most certainly higher than 30Gbps. The attack is not destined against one specific customer/reseller, but general against multiple customers. The attack pattern can be considered simple to filter out with the correct firewalls in place, but the size of the attack is almost impossible to filter out.
My question is, anyone else out there having this problem? Have you been working on any solutions? If so we would be willing to join forces to try to get this resolved.
Personally 10 years of hosting and security experience, by far this is the most powerful botnet I've encountered using simple infected machines to do the job.
